The Northern Virginia Emergency Response System ReadyNOVA Project

ReadyNOVA is a simple, online, step-by-step preparedness planning tool for residents, businesses, and faith organizations in the Northern Virginia metropolitan area. ReadyNOVA guides users to create emergency plans while following basic and accepted emergency management practices. The goal of the ReadyNOVA effort is to increase citizen, community and business awareness for emergency planning and build community resiliency.

The concept for ReadyNOVA was developed by the emergency management agencies of the Region in 2009. The ReadyNOVA project is supported by the Northern Virginia Emergency Response System (NVERS), a non-profit organization located in Northern Virginia, within the National Capital Region (NCR). NVERS supports a regional approach to coordinated preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery across jurisdiction and discipline boundaries during day-to-day emergencies and large-scale incidents. NVERS efforts focus on strategic planning, priority setting, information sharing, training, exercises, and equipment acquisition. This project is funded by a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant. To find out more about NVERS, visit the website at https://www.nvers.org.
